About Our Facilitators

Eric Daishin McCabe

Eric is a TCTSY facilitator with over 25 years of yoga and meditation practice. He began to understand trauma while teaching meditation and yoga at a drug and alcohol treatment center. Eric found in the TCTSY methodology a powerful way to relate to survivors that he has documented in a chapter of the new book, Embodied HealingSurvivor and Facilitator Voices from the Practice of Trauma Sensitive Yoga. Eric uses the principles of TCTSY in working in group yoga settings, private classes, in his work as a Zen Priest, and with college students at Des Moines Area Community College. He is a Soto Zen Buddhist priest recognized by the Soto School in both Japan and the United States. His 15 years of residential training in Zen temples taught him to love himself as he is (which is an ongoing process), to be considerate and aware of the needs of others (also ongoing), and to appreciate being an integral part of this intricate web of life within planet earth. He lives in Ames with his wife and son, Malcolm, pictured left.

Liz Manion

Liz received her Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F) Certificate in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Liz is a Registered Yoga teacher (RYT-200) currently providing practices online. Her journey in yoga began 15 years ago in Ames, Iowa. She discovered that with practice, she could do as well as the next person without any connection between mind and body. After several years, Liz completed her teacher training RYT-200 certificate in 2018 learning a variety of yoga styles.  After teaching for several months, she was concerned about imposing her music, themes, some stories of her life to the students who came to the class to practice their yoga.  Looking deeper, she took the 20-hour TCTSY-F primer and felt right at home, knowing that this was her path. Completing TCTSY-F certification in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Liz is well-versed in facilitating private or group on-line trauma sensitive yoga to mainly adults within a safe, secure environment.
